The Sun Cut Flat

Jeff Buckley's version is so raw and soulful. Judy, as always, makes it pretty.

How must it be for Bob Dylan to hear so many covers of his songs? Does he listen? I would hope it would be a delight to hear how people translate and express the words I wrote.

Judy's version is the first one I heard. That was around 1967. I wonder what Jeff Buckley would be singing today if he were still alive. His version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" is the one I feel closest to.

Good questions. I know that Bob Dylan loved Jimi Hendrix' version of "All Along the Watchtower" and am guessing that he does delight in hearing his songs interpreted in so many ways. Have you ever heard the soundtrack for "Masked and Anonymous"? Here's a sampling:

He must have chosen all those covers for the soundtrack.
