Exultation is the going
Of an island soul to sea,
Past the houses -- past the headlands --
Into deep Eternity --
Bred as we, among the mountains,
Can the sailor understand,
The divine intoxication
Of the first league out from land?

I love Emily Dickinson. Emily Carr I did not know - so thanks for that. Some of her stuff reminds one of Van Gogh, "Le Douanier" Rousseau and others.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about Emily Carr before, either. The painting you picked seemed one of her most dramatic paintings.
ReplyDeleteOverall, she reminds me a lot of Grace Hudson from Northern California, particularly her painting of local Indians.
