Concurrence

Concurrence

Each days's terror, almost
a form of boredom -- madmen
at the wheel and
stepping on the gas and
the brakes no good --
and each day one,
sometimes two, morning-glories,
faultless, blue, blue sometimes
flecked with magenta, each
lit from within with
the first sunlight.

(Denise Levertov, from a collection titled The Life Around Us)

Maybe it was Robin who posted this video some time ago.  YouTube churned it up for me today,  My tears of joy and rage are close to the surface these days.

The earth is leaning sideways
And a song is emerging from the floods
And fires. Urgent tendrils lift toward the sun.
You must be friends with silence to hear.
The songs of the guardians of silence are the most powerful-
They are the most rare.
~ Joy Harjo from "Singing Everything"
