thank you for this inspiration. i remember when i visited Terazin (sp) a guide showing me where a swimming pool had once stood. He said, the prisoners on their way to the gallows had to walk right past the officers' pool. kjm

kjm -- What moved me most was when she said "music is God" --that it was music that helped her and others during those years when they most needed help and solace. That she defined God as a way of being in relationship with life through the power of music, a human creation. No mention of religion.

Beautiful photo, and an incredibly compelling link to Alice Dancing Under the Gallows. Her voice and wisdom reminded me of my grandmother's. She was from Galicia Poland and came to this country just before the Holocaust.

robin andrea -- When I listened to Alice, I thought of what you have said about your parents and their parents, and the gratitude for life that they passed on to you and your siblings and that you share with roger and so many of us. I'm grateful to the friend who sent me the link to "Alice Dancing Under the Gallows" and that I can pass it on through this blog.

Wow, somehow I missed the "listen" part of this on my initial visit.

That's a powerful piece of film.
