NOT OUT OF SORROW, BUT IN WONDER

Encounter

As I continue to prepare to travel to California for a visit with an old friend in a VA hospital, I am feeling more sorrow than wonder. Czeslaw Milosz' poem "Encounter" offers me a shift in consciousness to that of wonder and even gratitude.

Wonderful poem. It has inspired me to dig out my Milosz 'New and Collected Poems'. Thank you.

Sorry about that, am. I deleted the comment because I wrote it much too quickly, and it made no sense. What I wanted to say was this poem you linked to is quite spectacular. It says so much in a few words. I think I want to understand out of both sorrow and wonder.

the composition of this early photo reminds me of many of the paintings I have seen from more recent times, the lovely run of shape and color. kjm
