My father would be 97 years old today

If my father were still alive, he would be 97 years old today. My father was a senior in high school when this photo was taken.

Here is some of the music he would have heard between during the 1930s. In 1932, he was the same age that my nephew is this year. Amazing!

Happy Birthday Day, Dad!

Don't you think, back then, high school seniors look much more mature than they do now? They probably were, having more adult responsibilities than most current day teens.

A lovely photo of your dad. Happy Birthday to him!

Happy birthday to your father. My dad also listened to some of the same music. As a young man, he played clarinet in a band in Toronto. About ten years ago, when I was out west visiting a friend, we stayed for a week at his dad's helping to care for his mom after she took a serious stroke. His dad had a bunch of tapes he had made of his favourite songs from the 30s and 40s - recording the music from records borrowed from the library and doing his own FM-radio-style introductions to each piece. It was such a fun break from what might otherwise have been a rather sad week for all of us. Listening to those tunes is now part of a favourite memory from my past.
