So did you watch the live stream from Newgrange? I must admit that I was too tired this year.

Sabine -- There was nothing to see today. There was no sun in the narrow opening due to the heavy cloud cover. I listened for a few minutes to the two people who talked about Newgrange at length.

You will have to wait until next year then. There is a live stream every year on the morning of midwinter, starting shortly before sunrise until the first sunbeam hits the inner chamber, with all the background explanations.

This is the complete stream from this year: https://youtu.be/8anbIH-XfPU

The moment the sun starts to hit the chamber starts at about 22 mins.
I have never been there in person, it's difficult to get access, a bit like a lottery, to avoid crowds.

Sabine -- Thank you so much for that link and the hint about 22 mins. Not sure what I was watching yesterday where the sky was overcast. Tears welled up as I watched. Of course I thought of my R and wished he could see this with me. His first word was "light." His father's ancestors were from Ireland.
